Group Rides

Novi Nights, Lakeshore Park, Tuesdays at 6:30 (rolling at 6:45)

Folklore has the "Novi Nights" group ride starting on a blisteringly cold snowy Tuesday evening in November 2002.

Since then, a hearty group of bikers has continued this tradition, meeting at the park each Tuesday evening at 6:30, weather permitting, for a 6:45 ride start. In the depths of winter the group may be small, perhaps only a few people on snowshoes. On hot summer nights, there may be 50 or more riders.

Please join us - this is the perfect beginner-friendly group ride, stopping at several points to regroup and usually with a designated sweeper to ensure no one is left behind. Libations following at the nearby Lakeview Grill. For all of us, there was a first group ride - make next Tuesday yours!

Maybury Mondays, Mondays at 6:30 pm (rolling 6:45)

A seasonal ride, Maybury Mondays is a small gathering of intrepid bikers riding at Maybury State Park on Monday evenings. Fast riders and slow, all are welcome.

The group often gathers at Deadwood Bar and Grill on Northville Rd afterwards for sustenance, and on nice evenings some ride into the park from the restaurant and join the group at the trailhead.

Island Lake, Fridays at 6:30 pm (rolling 6:45)

While seasonal, this ride at Island Lake Recreation Area is a great introduction for beginning mountain bikers. Options include the Blue trail alone, a relatively flat, beginner trail, or both Blue and Yellow for a 14 mile workout.

The group often gathers at Bar None on Grand River, just a few miles west of the park.

Maybury Miles (Cycle to Fitness MTB Ride) Wenesdays at 5:30

Our current MTB ride is on Wednesday Night at 5:30, it is called Maybury Miles, and we ride from he shop up to Maybury, ride a lap at Maybury, then ride back.  The pace is moderate to moderate+.  It is recommended that riders bring their own stuff to fix their bikes/flat tires if something happens as the group will not stop.  The entire ride is about 40 miles or 2 and a half hours.  Last but not least, the ride leaves at 5:30 SHARP, there is no 15 minute rule, so please get there a little early to get yourself situated.  There is plenty of parking behind the shop. See or call 734-266-8203 for more details.

Trail's Edge Group Rides, Mondays at 6:30 pm

Road/Cross/MTB on pavement from Trail's Edge Plymouth. Looking for a relaxed group ride after a hard weekend of riding or racing ... or maybe you spent the entire weekend working on the house/yard ... or nursing and/or shopping with your kids, spouse, or s.o.? Cool! Randy's happy shop is just the thing you need to get recover. This is a great ride for intermediate riders and those looking to learn more about group ride dynamics. We shoot for an average speed of 15-18mph range. Time: Meet at 6:30p, Roll out at 6:45p Route: Hines Dr. - Plymouth to Outer Drive. Distance: 25-ish miles (longer or shorter if you choose) This is open to anyone and everyone, no matter the speed you ride. And if you are a beginner who is not familiar with general road riding principals, this will give you a chance to practice those skills with other more experienced riders.

Mountain Trail Ride from Trail's Edge Plymouth @ 6:30 P.M. Looking for a faster/harder ride? Also cool! This our long-standing group ride that leaves the Plymouth shop at 6:30 every Monday (even in snow). The route changes weekly and is usually includes mtb trails with a faster pace than our B group ride. Plan on riding some pavement, dirt roads, and MTB trails. During the fall/winter you'll need a headlight stronger than a commuter light to ride the trails. Depending on the weather and mix of riders, the group will head to Maybury, Hines Drive "Ghetto Loop", 275 Bike Path, Novi, or do some dirt roads. This is a no-drop ride, however, the group tends to ride at a "spirited" pace. The ride does get canceled due to rain or muddy conditions.
